One of my favorite things to watch is Blank caught on camera videos. Obviously, these are intentionally faked, or someone is misunderstanding how small kids really can be. Yet, I still think it’s such an entertaining watch. Some of the clips are hilariously bad, while others look more convincing. I remember sitting in the living room with my family watching videos like these. At first, we would laugh at the obscurity of the clip, then we would begin to speculate what the video could actually be featuring. I remember sitting around swapping potential backstories for the creatures. Where they came from, why they moved, how they did, what their potential societies would look like. Stories like these bring people closer and are how a lot of folklore starts. For example, the Grimm’s Fairy tale “The Straw, the Coal, and the Bean” explains why there is a black seam on beans. Does it make any sense? No! Of course not, but it’s so creative and fun to make sense of the world. Plus, who doesn’t like a good story?
